Colleen’s Story: A Dramatic Monologue
Colleen, abandoned by William Pierce years earlier, is charged with sitting at the main intersection in town and counting the number of vehicles that drive through so that the monied can argue for paving out to a planned shopping center. She (re)counts more than people want revealed. Underlying all of this is the drama she is unwilling to admit to herself: the 33-year-old is contemplating an abortion.
